Phew, I’ve been discussion the current status of the Smarty Template Engine for hours now on php.smarty.dev, I think it all started because I wanted a feature that would extend the way smarty uses config vars, but it ended up as a discussion about Smarty Performance and the fact that Smarty is beginning to be a little bloated.
It’s like config vars are sacred or something, anyway, I think I convinced Monte Ohrt to open his eyes to extending the config class to a new level, or maybe he had it planned all along. It will be interesting to see if it in fact becomes a reality.
