The quest for the best?

Posted April 23rd, 2003. Filed under Uncategorized

I’ve been looking for a good NNTP client for some time now. I started out using Microsoft Outlook Express, but when I stopped using Internet Explorer I wanted to get away from Outlook, atleast for NEWS…

So I asked around and there only seemed to be a few good NNTP clients, there was Mozilla MailNews, of cause, … But MailNews requires Mozilla installed, and Mozilla is just too heavy for me…

So I found
40tude Dialog which is a good program, but 1) crashes almost every time you close it 2) has some MAJOR layout problems since every time I send a mail I end up posting it in a newsgroup, which is not only extremely embarrassing, but also unacceptable.

So now I am on the lookout for another NNTP program, I’m sort of trying out Thunderbird, but it has too many bugs in it…

Is it really that HARD to create a GOOD NNTP and stable client? My guess would be that once Thunderbird goes alpha, I’ll stick to that, but in the meantime I’m stuck with 40tude Dialog
