I fucking hate D-Link

18 Jul

Then suddenly while working a little on serendipity. I can’t connect to blog.dreamcoder.dk from my desktop.

I can connect fine from my laptop and all other computers in the house. but not my Desktop.

Of course I run the usual

ipconfig /flushdns

etc. and disable and enable the internet connection. That didn’t work so I rebooted the desktop, no change.

Went to the server and looked at the apache logs, no problems. The desktop is connecting, but no data is being sent to it from the server. I reboot apache, doesn’t fix it. I reboot MySQL, doesn’t fix it. I reboot any other service I could think of (samba, postfix etc.) No change. I look at my configuration in apache, I see if PHP is bugging… But nope, no problems… and the other computers still connect fine.

Then I reboot the Server. No change

Okay, so while I keep testing and looking at the logs I try to reboot the router, a D-Link DI-604. No change after that. I check if ports are open, connections are open… No problems there.

So I’m a little pissed after spending one hour debugging this shit and looking at logs.
Then I go back to the router and reboot it again… No change.

Then I release the DNS within the router and renew the DHCP information.

BLING BLING, it’s working… Now what does that tell you? (if you didn’t already know): D-Link routers SUCK BIGTIME. That firmware is the most bugged piece of software I have ever seen. I hope they burn in hell at some point.

Update: That’s it, this router is just too fucked. Can anyone recommend a stable fully featureed router with working SNMP etc? D-Link’s gotta go

As I said in the dev blog post about it, I never received an email regarding any security issues when he claimed. I did get an email for a separate issue a little later but from a different person. Too bad, but it happens.

Remember the days when you COULD NOT flash the firmware. Back in those wonderful days, they actually MADE SURE it worked before releasing it.

Now management just says, “Ah, who cares, release it now. We can fix it later and people will just have to flash the firmware”

D-Link has huge problems in their core, DHCP is a big issue for them and to fix it they have to release a new firmware (if they can) to update all routers.

This problem is on all their products with DHCP function… Good Luck Crap Link…

I hate D-Link their products are a joke. One of their reps tried to sell our office some routing stuff but I told the boss that I had their products at home and they are more headaches then simple. I’m sure they would love to kill cause they lost a sale right there. I will never by this brand again!!

I don’t know all this technical language but what i do know is that d link sucks like hell! i’ve been using the d link for quiet sometime now, and from the first time i set it up, problems started happening such as loss of connection every hour or so and so i had to keep restarting the d link. Now the connection lost are becoming ever so frequent and annoying, connection lost occurs every 1 – 5mins for me now….how lame……waste my money….dum product……feel like driving over it with a car….

    D-LINK SUCKS ASS!
For every D-Link product I have purchased, I have had to spend a minimum of 2 hours with some doorknob in India, trying to get it to work. Today was the last straw, when I called Tech support on three different occasions to get a PIECE OF SHIT Print Server to work. They don’t have a FUCKING CLUE! They just read the same bullshit troubleshooting response from their computer screen.

Long story short: NEVER BUY A D LINK PRODUCT!! EVER!

It’s somewhat ironic that one the rare occasion that my D-Link router actually works, I get to write thsi comment bashing their SHIT PRODUCTS!!

I also hate d-link. I bet it really stands for dead link (joke I madeup) because it never works. In the past, I had SMC, it worked alright, but every so often, keep getting disconnected. The SMC was outdated so I bought a new router to try. A D-Link. Worse then the SMC, never worked right, always going off, slow connection etc. One day, something happened and bought a new D-Link router, could not even get that one set up, when I’m almost fineshed setting it up, when it varifies connection, the connection goes off right before it varifies so it never does. I worked hours trying to get it to work.

I heard many stories that the Linksys router works good and heard msotly all good feedback about it. The next day, after fiddling with the new D-LInk router, I’ve bought the a linksys router. I had no problem setting it up and wasn’t that hard to do. I had it for since February and still haven’t had any problems with it. I don’t think the connection ever stalled on it.

The only problem I have with it now, is that a few days ago, I had resetted the router (I forget why), I can’t excess the setup page to it, but the connection still works perfectly. I just need to change the wireless name back to the way I had it and reopen a port for my laptop.

The Linksys is the best router I had yet, I recommend getting that.

Yep D-Link (Di*k-Link) SUCKS BIG TIME

I purchased dlink wireless router crapware and have to REBOOT it everyday. Suffers from overheating, easily F**ks up on Config changes … in fact every change makes the router reboot !!!! What kind of moron plugs a router so if I change something in the router it should reboot ????
    Sometimes wireless goes offline…

My suggestion is … go with Buffalo or Linksys ( now Cisco) or god forbid Belkin ( it looks funky! but I assume crap as well )
But unless Satan has bought your soul and you rot in hell ….. dont agree to torture yourself with DEvIL-Link !!!!

    Hell Dlink SUCKS!!…
Their products suck. MY Wireless also has to be rebooted every 15min. Lan doesnt work, and their tech support is rude as hell… Click, you’ve been hung up on… WTF is that? I pay money to put up with this shit? Also, i put a complaint in with Better Business Bureau, D-Link’s official response is “we cant find any records of your complaint”… what kind of fucking bullshit is that?
IN SHORT, DLINK SUCKS, AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!

Not much luck with D-link products either. Had a Wireless router that would disconnect me every few minutes. Traded it for a linksys router, has been running flawlessly for the past 6 months. Today tried to install a print server, but the thing will not connect wirelessly. Will stay away from anything D-link from this point on.

I don’t know what you people are talking about; I found D-Links’ troubleshooters to be very friendly and polite. I got to know them well as I was on the phone with them for over five hours, trying to set up a router that should install in about ten minutes. Good folks, one and all. (P.S. The router still doesn’t work.)

Even after using their [easy installation C.D] I will return to the store complain, and demand a refund. Their telephone support can go to hell. I am one customer they will never have again.
