Windows Media Player 10

24 Jun

Windows media player 10 is really nice. It’s design is really cool, and if Longhorn is going to look and feel anything like it, it’s gonna be an awesome operating system.

Also.. they finally fixed that god damn bug where the controls wouldn’t hide if you were in full-screen mode (which is actually the only reason I upgraded from v9 to v10)

So far I’m presently surprised with Windows Media player 10, but since it’s a Microsoft Beta, who knows what’s gonna happen? :)

RSS feeds

23 Jun

I’ve never liked RSS feeds, or found them useful in any way.

But since so many like them so much, I thought I’d give them a shot. There’s actually lots of sites which offer their content in form of RSS feeds, some sites just like to hide it :).

I started by downloading FeedReader.
Cool program, but understands nothing about UTF-8 encoding or RSS dates. At first I thought there might be something wrong with Serendipity, but it turns out it’s just FeedReader that’s b0rked.

So Garvin recommended RSSBandit, and that is one cool program. It does require the .NET 1.1 Framework (gah), but it has some awesome features. Like uploading your list of feeds to an FTP server, so you always have a backup and an easy way of downloading the list again. Very handy if you want to sync between home and work in one click – and it can detect comments to each blogentry, that’s sweet.
I would like a little finetuning, like like it forces you to use the IE rendering engine – enough said? But overall a great program, which does what you want it to, and nothing more.

Attention designers!

07 Jun

Serendipity is looking for designers to help us make a new (and really cool) default theme for our project.

At the same time we are also interested in getting a new design for our Wiki.
If you are a gifted designer – and willing to help – please don’t hesitate to contact our mailing list. I beg you!
